Great birthday party last weekend. As always everything went to plan and the downpour made it just that much more fun. The parents who didnt pick up a gun certainly enjoyed sitting around the camp fire. Check out the events folder for Easter and the school holidays.
Qld clan wars is comming up so we need to know who is interested. I know I could play by myself but I would like to share the Qld trophy with 4 others so please contact Radar.

Well the "Doomsday Virus by Warlock" went a treat last night. Both teams managed to be extracted with virus before time. It was fast paced game that beginners and vets both loved. I am sure it will be a regular at Wiper Park.
Also I hear that Wooky is looking for a mercenary for the G8 so contact him if your interested. As far as I can tell from movies you will need to be big, smelly and have an IQ of 6 or below :)
I may be having some problems getting Bundy troops to the G8 because I wont have the van. Is there anyone thats camping the night from Bundy that has a spare seat....

sunday 4/4/10, ranked game the game went well to begin with, first was "hold the flag" which came to a tie. i was sitting up behind the middle ref and picking them off before they got anywhere. the terain was fine, the mud has dryed out some but there is a nice natural spring down there... we think its a spring? anyway then we moved on to the doomsday virus. green team where defending first and where not sucessful at keep red team away.once red team stolen the virus they ran it back as fast as they could... red team worked as a team and completed the mission in 10min. game swapped over. red was now defending, red dug in and laid low. wookie was up front along with michael and tag teamed mitch. green team came in hard and took out a few players leaving the defence weak, wookie and michael was left with guarding the virus, green team failed 3 times because of wookies great shooting. once green team killed wookie they stole the virus and started escorting back to the extraction point. they did not know that 80% of red team where laying and waiting. in the end red team held off the green team from their objective and green team lost. then it was off to the "mess kitchen" which is hungry jacks, which we take over.....lol chewy is on my back about doin batterys.... better go. bye all |

What great weekend for "The Great Aussie Camp Out"
Food was good, the conversation was good, and the company was good.
Ran a couple of missions on the 400acres of land, maily "Capture the Flag", it was hard when you have to walk 800metres to the others base to get their flag, but we did it. Simon and I went up the middle to get the flag twice, both times it was hard getting across the creek, I got my boots full of water.

OK here I am again sticking my head out of cover...bring it on!
Like any recognised sport we need to have an effective and dynamic organisation. I propose that we have a national registration of clan players. This would give players the right to vote for a state representative and to attend the state clan wars and if qualifying, the nationals.
The state representatives along with a BFL representative would form the governing committee dealing with things such as rules, improvements, and promotion of the sport.
Each state should hold its own state clan wars completion with the qualifying teams then able to attend the nationals (say the top 4).
Some questions/suggestions/concerns -
1. Should there be one set of competition weapons that everyone uses?
2. Should there be a ruling on the weapon make up of a team? Maybe everyone uses the same type of weapon or a choice of weapons that are allowed up to a maximum of two? e.g. 2 P90s, 2 Commandos, 1 sniper
3. Should all guns be subject to better scrutiny? i.e. Factory standard weapon Factory standard scopes Correct factory weight Emitter not exceeding factory maximum output All 3 sensors working when trigger is pulled/not pulled Speaker volume not less than factory Db Muzzle flash lux at or more than factory standard
4. Should there be just one set of weapons used only for sates/nationals?
5. Should hats /caps be disallowed, instead using no head gear or tight fitting bandanas? The wearing of hats/caps can lead to the inadvertent blocking of sensors. Especially caps with a hard brim. By lifting your head you can easily block your sensor if you are standing and the attacking player is prone.
6. Why are gun sensors at different distances from the barrel end on different models? The gun sensors need to be the same distance from the barrel end for all weapons. I would suggest the commando location as the standard.
7. The inflatables competition at the moment is only a death match which lasts 15 seconds, no matter what the game. Couldn’t a variation of semi auto only fire be used to create a different type of match. More skill than just line abreast and emptying the mag on FA.
8. Is the indoor setting on the guns still too high of IR output for the size field we play on? There still seems like too much reflection of surfaces.
9. When competition fields are set up , if they are indoors then need to be place equally distant from the walls to even out the chances of reflected shots.
10. Is there a way to reduce/eliminate reflected shots off the actual inflatables themselves?
11. During matches all weapons not being used must be stored/turned off so that they cannot be hit or accidentally fired.
12. Does there need to be a spectator exclusion zone around the playing field, say 2m wide to prevent player marking from the side.
13. When competing in the bush if you are looking from infield out, persons moving along side of the field appear to be in play and can be easily mistaken for a flanking enemy.
14. Should each game be started with a gun reset from the ref gun?
15. What is the ruling/reasoning about barrels/no barrels? Is it safety or damage to the inflatables?
16. Are there any issues using weapons with different software updates?
17. Gun gremlins... I am aware of two times that guns were ready to play at the start of a match when the trigger was pulled for the first time they went straight to “end game” without a shot being fired. One was from a key start, the other from a ref gun start.
18. Lastly, Budda and I faced off. Both he and I were on full auto, standing about 10 feet apart with torso and head clear of any obstructions. Neither of us got a hit or kill. I should have died as I did at his hands during the night. Are we both that bad of shots or is there a bug hiding in the software?
And before you respond, sore loser, I am not. I am over the moon with what we did and if you know me, then you will realize that I just want this to become a worldwide recognised sport. No better way than to iron out bugs and solve potential issues before they blow out of proportion.

| Totally Agree with that Warlock..... We also need a national standard set of rules designed by all states to be used in the state and national clan Wars.... |

Wow, quite a bit there Warlock. 1,2 & 4 - I disagree, in any sport it comes down to your tactics, Car Racing doesnt use slicks in the wet. It's up to the team to select which weapons they want to use against other teams. 3 - Absolutely, all guns should be scruitinised and tested (Raven and Myself played a heap of the Bush part of the QLD titles on Default (Short) range as not "everything" had been checked properly) but see answer above regarding scopes etc. 5 - Agree 6 - Yeah, but not like a commando. If its to be standard, put it on the front of the gun so (as i saw so often a QLD Titles) people dont just jam the gun out and spray, especially with Moritas etc 7 - Cool, most regular inflatable players can still do plenty of damage on semi auto, game will still be over before the first minute. But thats why i love inflatable, the speed of it. Complete opposite to the bush. 8 - That site was honestly an interesting choice for inflatables, WHITE walls. Should have just set it up outside, no rebound there. Just need to be organised so as to not play into the night. 9 - Agree 10 - It IR, its a form of light and it will reflect off something, just something to live with. 11 - Absolutely, happens at Nats. We were surprised that guns (Both at bush and inflatables) were just left on and we received comments about saving our battery etc by turning ours off. We do it to prevent inaccurate feedback. People should not rely on the feedback system anyway, check your kills, check for hit lights staying on etc 12 - No, i love spectating from right beside the field and dont mind playing with spectators there. Just need to concentrate. 13 - As above, we want it to be somewhat of a spectator sport as it brings more people in. Imagine the the closest seat at the state of origin was in the very top row. 14 - Yes, and "end game" at the end of the games and another at the start and then a start game. It is the players responsibility to check the gun is completely reset and "ready" to go before game start. All that false start c*** at the QLD Titles, at Nats your pulled out of the game and miss out, your dead. When the ref says ready, CHECK YOUR GUN IS READY. 15 - safety 16 - No, not currently but i think there maybe with the upcoming version 1.4 but nothing major. 17 - See 14 dont assume yur right to go 18 - I believe the huge amount of IR and operations SATR is trying to perform, sending and receiving hits give the player the benefit of the doubt and does not register a hit.
Most of the above is my opinion only and im not looking for an argument, just calling it how i see it having played this game for 5 yrs now and playing with the earlier classic system to the newest SATR version. I think each field (ddls, wbls, bfl, roma etc) should choose its best team and only they go to the nats, i think it provides more of a range of teams. Maybe, when there are soooo many different fields in one state, then we move to that type of system, otherwise nats will go for 2 weeks, but currently, i think one team from each field, and not 12 teams from the host field either.
Ok, thats all i have to say, i hope i haven't offended anyone, and if i did, i didn't mean to, just offering my opinion/advise on all these matters |
Shooter, oh yeah
